A FOREIGN LANGUAGE COURSE
The Foreign Language Centre at the University of Gdańsk offers foreign language classes across all university faculties. At most faculties, students can choose from the following languages: English, German, Spanish, French and Russian.
NOTE. In the case of the first-cycle studies, students must complete their language course with at least a B2 proficiency level. In the case of the second-cycle studies and uniform Master's studies, the required level is at least B2+. The required initial level is B1 or B2, depending on the course. Students should choose a language and proficiency level that will allow them to reach the required level in accordance with the planned learning outcomes, as outlined in the Polish Qualifications Framework.
To enrol on a foreign language course, follow these steps:
- Click: https://zapisy.euczelnia.ug.edu.pl/
- Log in by following the instructions.
- Define and submit your preferences (by clicking “Send”) for the language or CEFR level (from B1 to C1). For enrolment on a second foreign language course (as well as for foreign language courses in foreign philology studies), you can choose a level starting from A1.
- The student is responsible for defining their own entry level of language proficiency. For reference, you can use any on-line placement test available or take the English placement test offered by the CJO Foreign Language Centre: https://forms.office.com/e/eHwxCeg1nr and in German, the CJO placement test https://forms.office.com/e/YaT8fhbGu0
- Please make sure to enrol on your foreign language course before the start of the semester.
Failing to meet the deadline may result in being randomly assigned to a group at an inappropriate level or not being assigned to a group at all.
For languages other than English chosen as the first foreign language, the creation of a group will depend on the number of students who have the necessary proficiency in the language to complete the course at the required B2/B2+ level. For the mandatory second foreign language (applicable to certain fields of study), it is possible to start learning the language from the beginning. However, please note that the group's level will be adjusted to the language proficiency level of the majority of the students. If a group at your preferred level cannot be formed, students will be notified by e-mail about the need to attend a course in another foreign language.
* Information about the semester in which the language course starts can be found in the curriculum of the studies.
